Fall 2024 Trend Predictions
From luxe suede to boho chic, fall styles you need to have on your radar
Can you believe fall is just around the corner? As much as I love the warm summer sun and the outfits that come with it, there’s something so special to me about the crisp, cool days of fall. Maybe it’s the routine of kicking off the season with an annual watch of When Harry Met Sally or the excitement buzzing around the return of pumpkin-spiced flavors, but there’s no question about it… I love fall.
Another reason for my love of fall is the shift it triggers in our closets, a seasonal sign to begin revamping our cold-weather wardrobe. From diving into deeper colors to embracing unique textures, the possibilities of fall fashion are endless.
So, grab your favorite fall beverage (iced, for now!), cozy up, and let’s jump into some of my “Fall 2024 Trend Predictions.”
Boho Style:
Mark my words: you will be seeing a lot of 70s-inspired bohemian fashion this fall. Now, before you doubt me, I promise I did my homework. Vogue published this article in March 2024: “Did Chloé Just Bring Back Boho-Chic?” and we haven’t heard much more about it until now. To me, boho style also falls slightly into the same nomenclature as “pirate dressing,” popularized recently on both TikTok and in InStyle Magazine, with Bella Hadid leading the trend. Some defining characteristics of the styles are flowy silhouettes, mixed patterns, organic materials, and puffed sleeves.
We’re also starting to see boho style on red carpets and press tours, with Vogue declaring “It’s a Boho Summer.” Hopefully, you now believe me when I say I am certain this trend is brewing up a trend-takeover storm, and Daisy Edgar Jones (styled by Dani Michelle) on her press tour for Twisters is another piece of walking proof.
Let’s take a look at a boho-styled outfit I would put together:

Suede:
Suede is a staple in fall fashion, but my trend radar says suede is about to step onto the scene in a more significant way. One of my favorite looks from last fall’s Fashion Week F/W 2023 was this jacket from Prada’s runway:
I think what prevented this jacket from properly kicking off the suede trend last fall was its price tag ($6,600 !!!!). Off this assumption, other brands simply needed a beat to catch up to the suede train, and it’s okay because now there are many great (more reasonably priced) options out there.
What I love about suede is its soft texture and rich feel, adding both warmth and sophistication to any fall outfit.
Here’s how I might style a suede look:

Mixing Fabrics:
Another prediction of mine is the trend towards mixing in lighter fabrics like linen with traditionally heavier materials that you usually think of when imagining fall dressing. For example, the juxtaposition of airy linen with cozy flannel or study denim creates an interesting layering effect. The mix of fabrics also represents a seasonal balance between summer and fall, providing warmth to an outfit when needed without being too heavy.
In my mind, by mixing fabrics, we are not only challenging conventional seasonal norms but also embracing a more fluid approach to fashion that caters to the unpredictability of the changing seasons.
Here’s how I envision mixing fabrics this fall:

Let me know what other trends you have on your radar, and I’ll be sure to report back as my trend predictions continue to develop!!!
